The Digital Classroom is an online site to be used by students enrolled in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies courses, taught by Professor Janell Hobson, at the University at Albany.  The aim is to share ideas, reflections, and creative writing/projects in order to enhance and contribute to feminist public scholarship.

Dr. Hobson is an associate professor and the author of two books: Venus in the Dark: Blackness and Beauty in Popular Culture (Routledge, 2005 with new edition forthcoming in 2018) and Body as Evidence: Mediating Race, Globalizing Gender (SUNY Press, 2012). She has also edited two volumes: a guest-edited special issue on Harriet Tubman for Meridians: feminism, race, transnationalism (volume 12, no. 2, 2014) and the collection Are All the Women Still White? Rethinking Race, Expanding Feminisms (SUNY Press, 2016).
